Paris Can't Wait
I have two minimum guaranteed trips to Paris every year. One in the brutally cold month of January and the other in the warmth of September. Not that I am complaining! I love Paris is any weather.
I have gotten a lot of curiosity about Paris and thought it was high time to do a post.
Firstly, I go to Paris for Maison et Objet which is held bi annually (end January and mid September). My attendance at the design show is in relation to a portfolio re-startup company called Hudson.
Secondly, Paris is a wonderful city for a perspective reset. I get a personal and professional perspective reset and motivation for the next few months.
Here is what a typical day looks like in the City of Lights:
06:00 am Wake up and run on the Seine embankment with Shiraz.
07:00 am Stop at a corner shop and buy flowers for the apartment. Sometimes from the florist at Hotel Costes (only in January when it is my birthday)
08:00 am Double shot of espresso and a croissant from any local bakery. IF we have the time we may have a sit down breakfast at L'Avenue.
09:00 am Head to the Maison et Objet show.
02:00 pm Wrap up at the show and head back to Paris.
02:30pm Monsieur Bleu for lunch. With views of the Eiffel Tower and delicious food a separate post on the restaurant is definitely coming soon.
04:00 pm: Coffee with my ex-colleague at Plaza Athenee. We get to catch up on business and politics.
04:30 pm Shopping at Galleries Lafayette. You may think this is just another department store but it is stocked extremely well and I particularly like the VAT Refund that shopping in the Europe allows. This is awesome in the winter when it gets dark early and too cold to stroll outdoors.
06:00 pm Spa time at Plaza Athenee. 50 minutes at the Dior Institut Spa and you come out a new person.
08:00 pm Dinner with our closest friends at Hotel Costes | Allard
This is probably the highlight of our day. Our four close friends in Paris are from both HBS and HKS and the conversation at dinner is always insightful and riveting.
11:00 pm Stroll around Jardin du Palais Royal before bedtime.
12:00 midnight : Views of the Eiffel Tower
