Aman Venice
Situated on the Grand Canal, The Aman is one of the most luxurious hotel in Venice if not all of Italy. It was the obvious choice for Hollywood royalty George Clooney to get married to our #girlcrush Amal Alamuddin in 2014.
The hotel is a 16th century historic Papadopoli Palazzo and a true work of art. The beautifully landscaped gardens house this grand building and when you enter the hotel, it is a sensory overload! You will be unsure of whether to admire the flooring, the frescoes, the ornate high ceilings, the Murano chandeliers or the breathtaking views of Venice! After gaping for the first 20 minutes, we made our way to the main dining room above a lofty flight of stairs.
We met the lovely general manager Claudia Schwarze who gave us a short history of the hotel. Seated by the tall windows, we spend more time marveling at the restoration and dedication put into the palazzo.
The good looking and friendly staff talked us through the lunch menu and we ordered the Fish with truffle and a simple pasta with Parmigiano and pepper. The flavours were truly sophisticated.
Our friends are attending an art talk in the garden of the Aman and arrived a little later. We walk around the hotel together then made our way to explore the rest of Venice.
I highly recommend staying at the Aman if you can afford it (avoid early May during the Venice Biennale when it is sold out).
Even if you cannot stay here, a lunch and quick tour of the property is a must!
