Mirabelle Rome
With breathtaking views of Rome and divine food, Maribelle is not a restaurant you can casually walk into. This is a fine dining, special occasion, play dress-up kind of establishment. I did my homework and made a 1pm reservation for lunch a few weeks before landing in Rome.
Located on the rooftop of the Splendide Hotel, this restaurant has an unparalleled position of vantage. You will hardly notice the beautiful interior décor when you first enter the restaurant and instead be transfixed by the views of Rome. The mesmerizing panoramic views include 19th century palaces of Pinciano, Villa Medici, Trinità dei Monti all the way to Saint Peter's and to the Gianicolo.
The staff was extremely warm and helpful in recommending their specialties.
We ordered:
- Tuna tartar with Asparagus and Squid ink Risotto with seafood as appetizers.
- Next was orange Duck for two on a bed of mashed potatoes with caramelized green apples
- For the pasta it was Green Pea and Truffle Ravioli to die for
- Dessert was gelato heaven.
After admiring the views over espresso till 4pm, we reluctantly made our way out of the stunning establishment. Mirabelle is definitely the best restaurant in Rome, but I would recommend it only for a "special" occasion.
Note: There is a dress code / jackets for men.
